I moved to Maryland in 2014. I think “backyard” photography is the most difficult, because the scenery is so familiar; there’s no novelty that feels worthy of being captured. I’ve since learned that’s there’s nothing that will stretch your photography skills quite like finding the magic in what you want to dismiss as ordinary. I love exploring the many state and regional parks of Maryland; I spend most of my time in the many miles of Rock Creek Park. Assateague Island is also an incredible location both day and night.
